Position: Children’s Ministry Leader Location: Coquitlam Chinese Baptist Church, [Port Coquitlam, BC] Compensation: Paid salary, 5-7 hours per week [To Be Determined Based on Assessment of Needs]
About Us: Coquitlam Chinese Baptist Church and Fireside Church (English ministry) is a growing faith community committed to nurturing the next generation in faith, discipleship, and service. We are seeking a passionate and visionary leader to direct our children’s ministry, ensuring that our kids and pre-teens experience the love of Christ in a meaningful and engaging way.
Position Overview: The Children’s Ministry Leader will oversee and develop a thriving ministry that serves children from early childhood through pre-teens. This role requires a leader who can adapt and develop curriculum, support and equip volunteers, and engage with families and the broader community. The ideal candidate will have a heart for outreach, a vision for growth, and a desire to see children flourish in their faith within our church community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Development & Implementation: Adapt or develop engaging, age appropriate curriculum for children’s and pre-teen ministry. Ensure lessons align with
biblical teachings and church values.
• Volunteer Support & Training: Recruit, train, and support teachers and helpers.
Provide relief on Sundays to existing leaders when needed.
• Outreach & Community Engagement: Understand the needs and hearts of families in
our community. Utilize social media and other tools to reach and connect with parents
and potential ministry participants.
• Ministry Leadership & Growth: Cast vision for the children’s ministry, ensuring
alignment with the church’s mission. Set goals for growth and engagement.
• Pre-Teen Ministry Oversight: Lead the pre-teen ministry, recognizing the unique needs
of this age group and fostering discipleship opportunities.
• Administrative Duties: Assess and establish the number of hours needed for this role.
Work with leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of the ministry and make necessary
adjustments.
Qualifications:
• A strong personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ.
• Experience in children’s or youth ministry, teaching, or curriculum development.
• Leadership skills with the ability to equip and support volunteers.
• Familiarity with social media for outreach and engagement.
• Ability to cast vision and build a thriving, sustainable ministry.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
Additional Considerations:
• The role’s compensation is currently under review, recognizing the need for competitive
pay to attract and retain the right candidate.
• We are open to discussing a short-term contract with reassessment periods to ensure
flexibility and alignment with ministry needs.
• We desire a leader, not just a worker, who will set a vision for growth and deepen the
spiritual formation of our children.
• Sunday availability is required. Additional hours to be determined based on ministry
needs.
